Trog: yup, it was made for that. P.S. They're cheaper at Dix sporting goods than on Mountain Gear.

If you use high tension grippers like Captains of Crush your grip will get phenomenally strong.

Got the Dynaflex at Dick's, $20, seems to be a good workout for all the forearm and hand muscle groups, balanced, not too hard.
I feel like a dork using it, a little awkward to do while driving; and the guy on the accompanying video is scarey

I like the dynaflex. I assume it is doing little to increase forearm strength, but have no doubt that it helps with warming up, getting the blood flowing, etc.
Are these Captains of Crush for real - ie do they really work? I could give a shit about working my way to a #4, but if the 60-80lb'ers can help, then I'd like to get them.

If your an adult male anything up to and including the number 1 is realistic. My measured grip strength right now is 280 lbs from using grippers for the last 6 months 4 times a week or so.

I am really curious to see if this translates into climbing hard. How hard do you climb, you don't have a ticklist?
I just think there are better things to make you climb harder, like climbing.

Whatever man, sitting around squeezing a gripmaster is way better than a day at the crag. Plus, no let down from falling on your project! w00t

There are also times when you aren't climbing but can add a little activity/excercise such as those gripmasters, dynaflex, etc.
I'm with you, though, that climbing is usually the best excercise.

The best climbers in the world have the highest grip strength to weight ratio. It has been the best indicator of a climber's potential.
