Herrington is apparently a privately owned lake. The ban applies to public lakes managed by the Army Corps.

the capn' says it's a go!
choss?? at least when you climb choss over deep water (as opposed to in the Red), only the climber has to worry about takin' one to the dome. that would really suck though, to get knocked unconscious mid-air & then drown.

Alot of the rock is chossy but there are quite a few sections that are solid! Ive never heard of any bans or people being fined..... I live in Jessamine co. and I swam out there all of last summer and jumped some crazy cliffs.... didnt get in any trouble.... You have to search for good rock to climb but it shouldnt be to hard. Most of the real popular places are good for climbing and most of the time you can actually find people climbing out there... Usually its kids but I have seen a bunch of hardcore guys go close to 100ft.. Its sick! It looks more like a river so you have to put in some time to find the BEST places to climb.... Overall its worth it.. Its closer to lex and it all free soloing!

As far as I know, the climbing/jumping ban pertains only to lakes that are under the Huntington Corps of Engineers, which includes Summersville, Grayson and Cave Run. Herrington is not under the Huntington district.

Sorry lexguy, but according to your spray list, I don't trust your opinion on rock quality.
