Diet for Life = BORING!!!

Post by Artsay »

I wish I could just eat whatever I want. Instead, I feel like I'm always on a diet and it's just not fun. People like squeeze and Horatio...dang, I'm just so jealous that you all can eat whatever you want and not gain weight. I hide at work to avoid all the donuts, cakes, and cookies going around.

Does anyone else feel like this too? I know I don't have an eating disorder just because I would LOVE to eat rich, fattening foods every day, all day and don't. It's healthier this way but dang is it hard sometimes! It takes all I have to just sit here and keep myself from attacking that splendid raspberry filled glazed Krispy Kreme donut just around the corner from me. Oh man, it's just around the corner from me...

Now I'm thinking of that yummy wedding cake of yours....mmmmm.

Yes. It is hard to be health conscious but I find that not only my body thanks me, but my mental health is so much better when I eat well & excercise. But yeah...yummy donuts are the devil.

I think I am lucky. I don't tend to crave certain foods that are terrible for me. though Cheesecake and ice cream top my list of bad things. I do avoid chips and chocolate bars and fast food though. otherwise, I eat basically anything I like. but in moderation.

I climb enough that I can eat pretty much what I want during normal times...and now.... have actually found so far in my pregnancy that I'm having a hard time gaining weight, likely due to the exercise I get and my food adversions. my nose has been so dang sensitive that I'm turned off most foods before I even see them.

you know, I've only tried one Krispy Kreme ever. (we don't have them in canada...at least not where I live) and i have to admit...it was pretty amazing...

I've been a pig lately, I was just getting really good about eating fresh veggies and whole grains, but damn some times chicken wings, things deap fried and beer are all I want. Oh and I'll want seconds, but I'm still 50lbs lighter then when I started climbing.

Sometimes it is just fine to eat those tasty treats. Moderation and all that. Your body can deal with the extra calories just fine. If you feel guilty, just run a little bit longer, or knock out another 15 minutes on the bouldering wall.

Or, I think cycles are a good idea - when the climbing is crappy (like now), ease back on the dieting a little bit. Let your body relax some, if you gain a little weight, it will just be training weight for a little while, then a few weeks before you really want to start climbing hard again, go back to the stric diet.

mmmmm ... Krispy Kreme.

I miss my teenage metabolism. I worked at DQ and ate every tasty ice cream mistake ("I ordered a blizzard, not a parfait!" kind of mistake), and stayed steady at 122 lbs. Around age 25 that all changed and now I have to fight to stay below 130. grrrrrrr ....

P.S. Just reading this made me put away that Coke. :( Hey, Artsay, would you like to split an M&M?

Oh trust me...I eat a LOT of treats but 9 out of 10 times I say no. Or I'll compromise and eat a Bit O' Honey, for example, instead of another candy bar because it's lower calories. I think it's just what you have to do if you don't want to be overweight.
