um ynp1, since you seem to think you know me or something I'll try to set you straight on that, you don't! Dirtbagging in the South? That's easy mode dude, try dirtbagging in the winter time in the Rockies sometime, see how far you get. Anyway, now that i've established mine is bigger than yours back to the topic.
First of all I've never stayed at Linda's cabins, I prefer tent camping or if it's raining really hard for days, I stay in my buddy's camper. Which I should say, Linda has graciously let him leave on her property all year round in, exchange we do work for her while we are there. I'm a light sleeper and can't sleep at Miguel's, I've tried to stay there when every other campground in the Red was full but for me trying to sleep there sucks. It's a great place to go hang out a little and have some pie but I prefer sleeping where it's quiet and taking a shower when I choose to. That's worth a few extra dollars a night to me. I'm not a stay up until 3AM spewing drunken climbing stories around the fire kind of climber anymore, used to do it but i'm too old now and if i want to climb i need sleep. the person who started this post seemed to be more in line with this type of camping situation so I think he will be happy at Lindas. Linda is a great, giving, interesting person and she gives good discounted rates to climbers, especially those who stay more than a few days. She needs the business and I will give it to her when I come down, so if you have a problem with that dial 1-800-go #$%^ yourself OK
Planning a trip, or atleast trying to
Most climbers from Columbus stay at Linda's. It really is a great place, Linda and Doug are wonderful people. It's worth the extra drive and the extra cash. It's 5 mins from the motherlode and all the southern region.Lateralus wrote:Allah is right, Linda is great, her place is just awesome and her prices are very reasonable. Where as mentioned you get peace and quiet, a nice clean shower room that you aren't sharing with 100+ people, Linda personally making sure your stuff is safe when you leave for the day and even some nice private trails and a fishing pond. In my opinion accomodations don't get any better at the Red than Lago Linda. I will never stay anywhere else as long as she provides her service.

but rhunt..if you guys drive into miguel's for pizza anyway, and then back out to Linda's...it is a lot further than 5 minutes. don't be fooled folks. Linda's is nice, but it isn't a small skip across the parking lot. that being said, miguel's is the worse place to "sleep", and the best place to socialize.
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.
Piggie, here's how it works. we drive all the way from C-town(4 plus hours) to Linda's. Get up in the am, drive 5 minutes to the lode and or s-region. Then after climbing drive to Miguels(stoping by the beer trailer first for some adult beverages of course) for pie and parting then drive alll alll the way(15 minutes) back to linda's for some more partyin & and a very quite night sleep. Get up again in the am...climb, go home then do it all again the next weekend.
