Incredible 5.9

Post by SCIN »

Man, remember that crazy dude named TRAD-SEEKER WHO TYPED IN ALL CAPS AND WANTED EVERYONE TO KNOW ABOUT HIS ROUTES AT SOLAR COLLECTOR?

Well, I checked it out this weekend and........damn.
THREE STAR 5.8/5.9 AT SOLAR COLLECTOR NAMED BROKEN CHICKEN WING!

The route is absolutely rad. Three stars for sure. Better than Autumn at Long Wall if you ask me. Definitely worth checking out.

Walk waaaay past the sport routes (walk to the right of them) and past a thin dihedral. You'll see two right angling cracks splitting the face. This is the one on the right. Very cool.

SCIN, I can't tell from the picture, but can you top out at the top of the route?

Sounds great. I just did a quick search on Climb Kentucky and couldn't find directions to Solar Collector. Would you mind posting them, SCIN? Start from the Slade exit - I've never been to the Southern Region but would like to venture there.

Funny, i've rarly ever been to the upper region.

I guess we have to leave our comfort zones sometimes.

Be careful where you park. It's private land. If you block the road the landlord might get pissed and we'll lose access.

(There's really not enough parking there, and the above scenario is the main reason that people tried to keep this crag secret. PLEASE do not irk the landlord.)
