Damn - with all the uncontrolled, natural, dangerous stuff at this "Fortress" area, it must be full of those crazy 'trad' climbs!pigsteak wrote:where is this place called Fortress? I've never heard of it....any stellar clip ups?
The other thing I was thinking reading this is how at most areas (e.g. Yosemite) people wait until the dead of winter to 'clean up' the deathblocks - but at the Red, people wait until summer for the crowds to thin out!

Hmm....if you tossed a big enough one from the top of Fortress there, do you think there'd be any risk of it rolling/crashing all the way to the road? I guess it depends on how big the ones you're talking about are. Definately is a ton of loose crap up there though...my dog Maya just about got killed last time we were there by an errant rock shower...

I've always dreamed of prying the 'block' above American Crack loose. You know the one that has the rap anchors everybody uses. Everytime I look at it I can't help but to think that thing would roll all the way to the river. Man that would be cool.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.
Mmmmmmmmm. One can only hope, eh? How cool would that be?Overcammed wrote:Hmm....if you tossed a big enough one from the top of Fortress there, do you think there'd be any risk of it rolling/crashing all the way to the road?

Impressive? You mean straight up SCARY! We all cleared about 50 ft of space in all directions and you can still feel the WHOOSSSHH as that thing plummeted and shook the ground!
JJ and Jared are seriously considering Trundling as a new sport. I must say, they're pretty darn good at it, considering all the practice they get!

It's addictive. We pushed some rocks off an 800+ cliff in Utah and it was way exciting watching them vaporize at the bottom. Also gives you an idea of how long you'd have to curse if you fell that far...
