awww meadows... sorry, that post was not really about you at all. it was an analogy of sorts about belief in general... a parable if you will. we are all limited by our own experience. we are also unique and special because of it.

I would be remiss in not mentioning that Christ did very strongly distinguish his teachings in saying that he was the only way through which a man might be reconciled to God. I know many have problems with the exclusivity of such a statement, but it would be a misrepresentation not to point it out.

Thank you.

Just becasue they don't have it written down in a little book or someone else telling them they have to believe this or do that doesn't mean they don't have a moral structure.
I didn't say scientists were amoral. I said science is amoral. Near as I can tell, most everybody has got some set of beliefs about right and wrong. It just doesn't come from science.

How many of you all have actually indepently researched your chosen belief system? And I don't mean just reading the bible, koran, etc. I mean reading research that is very critical of it, that may point out flaws and contrdictions. I mean, looking with a very critical eye toward how members of your belief system have acted through out history.

That's just it Wes, if you can't look at your own belief system with a critical eye, then in my opinion, it's just blind pointless faith.

For 15 years I was a blind "fundy" Christain. Now I look at the Bible with critical eyes, I don't just read it literally, it's not all black and white, it doesn't have all the answer to my 21st. century life....it was written mostly by regular people like you and I in ancient times..

I can be critical of the Bible and my Christian faith and still be a Christian...that's what makes me a Christian.
