Hydraulic press

Post by campusboarder »

What's the hydraulic press for on the start of the switchback down to Joe Ponder and Rebel Hollow? There's alot of bolt holes in the rock and one hanger that has been cut/ripped open.

rick has done a bunch of bolt testing down there. basically they see how much force it takes for them to fail. if you want to know more on bolting, he made up a booklet although im not sure that info is in there. his screen name is weber

That's Arnold. He's been working hard for the greater climbing good. Maybe that's why his approval ratings are slipping in CA, too much time in KY.

Pawilkes and meetVA said it.

We're testing bolts, hangers, quicklinks, cable draws, etc. Lots done. Lots more to do.

Someone said they appreciated our efforts to make climbing safe in the Red on Corbin sandstone. But, the stark truth is that nothing will make this sport safe. There are just too many factors, and the risks in climbing will always remain high. However we DO want to minimize this risk, and we hope our testing will yield some info to make that happen.

Please do not disturb the gear on the wall, including the hardware currently waiting to be tested. (The pump went on the fritz and is being repaired.) This is not booty.
