louisville or lexington??

Post by rrichards5 »

I am planning on coming out to RRG for the first time in July, and was wondering what the difference in distance and accessibility from Louisville vs. Lexington to the Gorge. It is cheaper to fly into Louisville, but it might be worth flying into Lexington depending on the distance.

Thanks!

The difference is nominal. It takes less than an hour to drive from Louisville airport to Lexington and the scenery isn't too bad along the way. Factor in the cost difference if you are renting a car as well. I'd say fly into Louisville if you stand to save over a hundred bucks.

If you are not camping in the Red, I would fly into Louisville, but I would most certainly stay in Lexington. No way I would want to make an hour and 40 minute drive back and forth from L'ville when I could just make the 40 minute drive from Lexington.

It can be done in less than 40 minutes. Ah yes, it can be done, yes.

Another option, in terms of saving money would be to fly into the Cincinnati International Airport, which is actually in northern Kentucky. It's about the same drive to from there to Lexington as it is from Louisville to Lexington.

Do you really want the July Red River Experience? Maybe you should wait untill October or November. But hey, maybe you want the jungle climbing experience.

Hey, I tell you what, this last weekend was actually really nice as far as temps and humidity goes (GO TO HELL DEERFLIES!). I hit Drive By on Saturday and Military on Sunday and the rock was great and you were only sweating while you were climbing.
