breaking into cars is like gambling, sometimes you hit it big and sometimes you don't. if they would have broken into my car and gotten my wallet, they would have made out big and i think that is what they are betting on.

Well, I do have a car alarm, and I'm sure that it went off, but we didn't hear it from the crag. Plus, if we had heard it someone could have easily been gone before we could have run down the road.

Getting your car broken into is the one biggest drawback to climbing at the Red. Just think about how great it would be if you didn't have to worry about having your shit stolen. It happens at the New also, but not quite as much.

Its always a concern on the last climbing day for me, I usually have a tent, sleeping bag, pad, clothes, etc. in the car. None of it has a lot of value but still it would be damage to the car and all the hassle, I could leave the car unlocked. That just invites theives though that are just starting out  . I have taken trad gear for the weekend and ended up climbing sport all weekend, but I still carry it to the cliff along with a extra rope. Everybody has to deal with it in one way or another. Too bad the local law enforcement didn't have the cash to do there job. I guess its better pr setting up roadblocks to catch a climber with a little herb. The only sure way to stop it would be to hire a security company to hang out at the parking areas. There just isn't an easy answer.
