My truck was broken in today at Shady Grove!

Man, that sucks. Sounds like this weekend was bad news for break ins.

I got this email from a guy about the motherloade to the RRGCC web site. Thought it might be helpful to share ( he said it was ok ).

A month ago my car was broken into
at the motherlode. The Charmane oil group saw the guy down there and called
it in to the Beattyville sheriff (Harvey). I spoke wih Robert, the owner of
Charmane, and he was very nice and expressed that he wanted to help out with
the break ins, etc. Anyway, the guy stopped in the middle of ripping my car
stereo out when he saw the oil truck drive by and the sheriff came down just
a little too late. The guy was gone. But the Charmane oil guys there that
day identified him as Melvin Newton Jr, and he\'s quite infamous in
Beattyville as we found out. We never did recover the stuff (~$2000) that he
did steal because the sheriff never really went after him, I\'m sure he has
bigger problems to deal with. I thought you guys might want to know that the
oil guys were very helpful but the sheriff couldn\'t do much for us after
the fact, and also that the guy breaking into cars down there is Melvin
Newton Jr. from Beattyville. If you ever find a new Compaq laptop please let
me know. Luke Simmons, Las Cruces, NM

As I was leaving Roadside yesterday with SikMonkey and a couple of others, I was the first out. I saw a black Ford truck pull up (the smaller version). I was off in a distance so they didn't see me right away, but I walked faster to the car. Two blonde guys (around 14 and 15) jumped out of the truck and stood there and watched me. About 20 seconds later, they jumped back in the truck and drove away. An older lady around 50 was driving (thin, smoking). I can't say for certain what they were up to, but I had suspicions given what I saw.

So if this can be proved to be true, how about making up flyers with the alleged jackass's name and a little creative description of what he is up to and posting them all over the place?

Pretty interesting stuff.
Sounds like it might be time to flood the Beattyville courts/police with emails and calls about the problem climbers are having with their favorite sons.
The mayor of B-ville is retiring after 20+ years, maybe the up-coming mayor should put it on his list of priorities.
