When people ask to use something of mine (stick clip, draws, etc.), I always tell them not to fuck it up! That way I'm covered. Remember if you fuck it up. You buy it!
Is it just me or what? I am constantly amazed by how many people that require a stick clip, yet they don't have one of their own.

Just kidding, sunny sunny Sunshine...
Ray and I have never owned a stick clip. We usually just used sticks and it hasn't been a problem. The problem has recently arisen, though, that the long sticks good for stick clipping seem to be getting harder and harder to find. Maybe from all the climbers using them over the years? It's strange but we've definitely noticed it being this way these past couple of months so last week we purchased/made our very first stick clip. And I must say, I REALLY like it. It kinda sucked always having to find a long stick.
Does he have a strange bear claw like appendage protruding from his neck? He kep petting it.
On Monday we were climbing at Jackson Falls in So Ill; a group of climbers had a toprope on a new sport route I wanted to work on; I was the only one in our group who could lead and so every time I set up a top rope, after my friends climbed the route I would clean it; so I had already had a decent morning and having just recently returned to climbing I did not want to push it leading a new route. The rope was just hanging and this one person didn't want to toprope without her boyfriend belaying and he was leading something else. I asked if I could climb on there rope and trail mine. They said if I felt okay climbing on their rope it was cool( their rope was clearly well worn/ even shabby). I replaced their draws at the anchor with mine and cleaned their draws except for one directional. My friend climbed on my rope and then then the other climber climbed on my rope.
Everyone was cool.
In your situation, Artsay. it was rather (presumptuous) of the asker to want to use gear that wasn't on the wall already.

I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
