I don't recommend Foxfire. There is exactly one move that is 5.7. And the rest is crap. 200+ feet of crap.

JR, it's called adventure climbing!

Personally really dig it. The first pitch is the only crap, the rest is just weird fun.

Yasmeen, I do not know that I can say that I dug shaggy, fore this seems to be inadequate verbage for such a route. When Johnny bolted this one, he broke the mold, that's all there is to it. Would all the stars in the heavens be given to Shaggy, it would still prove too few.

Multipitch in the Red isn't as good as other places I have been but I still wouldn't call Foxfire"crap" Yea a couple of the pitches are rotten,The last 3 looked pretty cool. Like JB said we call it adventure climbing here.

Think of it this way. Roadside Attration is the same grade. And tons of people break it up into more than one pitch. So you can just throw out the argument that it is just fine for the Red crap.

Is foxfire still "pretty cool"?

But you do have a point with the adventure climbing thing. Is adventure climbing a Euphemism for crawling around on your knees?

You can't argue something that is solely based on something as subjective opinions. This is almost as dumb as arguing something as subjective as ratings.

I think Foxfire is good fun and really enjoy the easy runout second pitch, 3rd pitch "i'm supposed to do what?" crawl, and fourth pitch roof followed by runout.

You think it's crap. We're both right.

Seems like everybody on here needs to get out and climb soon since we continue to try and classify and quantify climbing into neat little categories, star quality, numbers, and popularity. I find the attempt to categorize and classify and standardize things very tedious in "real life", and climbing is one of my attempts to move away from that. I enjoy climbing. I don't need to label it. I did once, but not now.

Hey man, nothing beats my adventure climbing experience on Fox-Fire: Climbed several pitches w/ very pregnant wife while idiots "down-holler" were touching-off L.P. tanks with .22's. Very Loud.

Foxfire is a lot harder if you run all the pitches together in a single pitch. If you do it that way, I recommend not placing any gear until after the traverse.
