Enough with the TICK MARKS already
Well said Matt! Good ideas and quite reasonable.
Either a person can send the route or not (regardless of chalked up holds, tick marks, scrubbing, dirt, lichen, loose rock, snakes, heat, humidity, beta, etc). I suppose for some it seems that the ends justifies the means....
To each their own... you are either a sprayer or a player!
P.S. I'll take excessive tick marks over doozle on a route anyday!

(psst - someone remind RRO that this is the internet, he's not supposed to be all 'reasonable' or 'propose useful solutions')
Personally, we all need to pimpslap the schlubs who tick the crappy holds! It really pisses me off when I'm "ticksighting" a route and I grab for a hold with a 1" wide, 6" long tickmark, and it's crap! grrrrrrr!
