Liz and I want to give heartfelt thanks to Mark Ryan, Amy Moore, Skip Wolfe, and Jenny Wagner for their enormous volunteer efforts during the past few weeks on helping to develop climbing routes and build trails. This past weekend, Mark, Amy, and Skip worked on the trail up to the Great Wall. Up until now, anyone going up the approach trail to this wall has had to slog through the Great Eastern Kentucky Swamp. This trio built and installed a first class board walk from the creek to the base of the slope and then built an entirely new section of trail on the side of the slope high above the swamp, linking up with the switchback trail up to the wall.
All of us who can now approach the Great Wall with dry feet owe a big thanks to Mark, Amy and Skip!
And, if that wasn't enough, Sunday, this team built a whole new section of trail between the Great Wall and the Boltergeist area that bypasses the down-climb section via a knotted rope, which was awkward if one were hiking with small children or dogs.
Great job! We love y'all.
