Memorial Day Weekend

Post by Ballss »

So I'm anticipating a zoo this weekend, and that miguels will be packed to capacity. Any other good camping ideas?

Thanks.

I remember a post requesting everyone to carpool to Miguels for the video premier on Saturday Night.

Lago Linda for camping?

Tackett's will be allowing camping in the field behind Red River Outdoors and will be shuttling people. I am trying to get hold of Matt to confirm about how many campers he can accomodate. There will be additional parking Saturday night in the field next to Lil' Abner's Motel after 5pm on Saturday night. I am told that this will hold up to 100 vehicles?

Remember that Odub will be rapping both Friday and Saturday nights. Registration for the Bolting Clinic and Arno's Warrior Way 1 Day Expresso Course will start Friday evening also. RockQuest will be holding a shoe demo for Red Chili & La Sportiva at Torrent on Saturday. Anyone attending the Bolting Clinic, Warrior's Way Course, or the shoe demo will receive free raffle tickets for a special raffle that evening.

I am working on a detailed agenda that I hope to post later today or tomorrow at http://www.rrgcc.org

Lago Linda, drive past Miguel's, past torrent turn right on some highway with 3 numbers... that'll deadend and i think you'll turn right again. follow the signs for lago linda.

or ask allah. he practically lives there.

although a bit of a drive (ie it is not just right there at miguels) there is also pumpkin bottom campground. (do an internet search.) the lost silver mine campground, etc...

There's camping along the road going to Long Wall. It's by the creek right off the road, but you need a pass from the park rangers which is about $3 per day per car. You can buy them at the Shell station right off the parkway at the Slade exit.

Go to Lagolinda.com all the info you would need is there. If you are wanting to climb in the southern region it is the best place to stay, but if you are wanting to climb in the Gorge Proper, then it woudlnt be a good idea, cause it is about 45min away. It is about 20 min from miguels which isnt to bad. it is quiet and has really nice restrooms and showers.

camping along the road to Long Wall would not be a good idea on Memorial Day Weekend. Too many drunks, tourists, etc... travel through there. It would be a great place to camp if the sound of traffic over gravel excites you.

You will be able to park at RRO and we will help with shuttle service. Unfortunately camping will not be ready for Memorial weekend. We are working with the cabin owners to get this set-up and ready. The land is multiple use and we are still working out the details and such. We had a boy scout group last weekend that caused some damage. I will let everyone know when th public camping is ready. I really wish we could open the field up for this coming weekend, its out of our control right now.
