Congrats Neighbor, on your grand opening!
Cathy's bed-and-breakfast is adjacent to Muir Valley at the north end of the valley near the Rogers Elementary School on KY 715. Smoky Fork B&B guests are very welcome to hike and climb in Muir.
The main entrance to Muir Valley is off of KY 2016. All vehicular traffic to Muir must enter through that route. There is to be no parking on Muir property at the north end. This map should help.

Liz and I wish all of Cathy's guests a pleasant stay!

Congrats Cathy and good luck with the grand opening!
Rick, this special note is still posted in your website: "The ONLY permissible access to Muir Valley is via the road back from KY-2016 to the Muir Valley parking lot, which is in excellent condition. (See map) The road down to the valley floor from KY-715 is closed permanently due to its dangerous impassable condition."
Also on a previous post, you stated that: "A reminder here that ONLY Official Muir Valley vehicles are allowed to drive down from 715 to the valley floor. If you have not been granted official permission and have a sticker for your windshield, you may lose visitor privileges if you violate the rules. The road is being slowly improved for use by maintenance and emergency vehicles."
Do the B&B visitors need a special parking pass then to access this road? And are the B&B visitors allowed to drive down into the MVNP proper (as in established climbing areas)?

Because there are many new visitors to the Gorge, I'll try to make the directions as clear as possible.squeezindlemmon wrote:Congrats Cathy and good luck with the grand opening!...

The Lane leading down from KY 715 to Cathy's "Smokey Fork B and B" is about a half mile south of the Rogers School on the east side of the road. This lane, and the ravine it passes through, are owned by Muir Valley, LLC. Cathy has easement rights to this lane to access her B & B on the floor of the valley, and therefore, so do her guests. They need no passes.
Where this lane reaches the bottom of the valley floor, there is a "Y" in the road. The left fork goes to Cathy's. The right fork is for official Muir Valley maintenance vehicles and emergency vehicles only.
All other vehicular traffic coming to Muir Valley must use the approach off of KY 2016 and park in the designated parking areas near the Muir maintenance building and main parking lot. No vehicles are allowed to drive down to the valley floor from these main parking areas.
I hope that clarifies the directions a little.
