I think climbers who are only interested in ticking grades don't usually care about anything other than sending. Once they have sent a route it is done. Finished. No need to go back. I have heard more than one of these people say, "I don't care if they close Military Wall, I have done all those routes." If something is good it is worth doing, eating, reading, listening to....again and again.

You two sound like to old men sitting on a porch drinking home made wine, complaining about how you had to walk to school uphill both ways in the snow. You two could do a new movie: Grumpy old men on the rock...

And then there are those who consisently send at a level and just know ...

There's civilization three miles in every direction. Pick a direction and borrow a phone from the first person you encounter. 411 now offers directions. :D

And then there are those who consistently send at a level in the Red and just know compared to those who consistently send at a level in a lot of different areas and just know....

If you're hiking to civilization, I doubt you'd say you're in the Hollow. However, in time, that might be true.

as far as the topo point, I think it was meant for hikers/climbers who are not hiking towards civilization.
