Crag suggestion

Post by Jrodan »

I'm taking my ten year old nephew outside for the first time next weekend. Does anyone have suggestions for crags with routes that will be fun for someone of his age with no climbing experience?

The Turret area at Fortress. Just keep your eyes open for the copperheads. If you leave them alone they will leave you alone. I have taken large groups of kids there while they were out and have never had a problem. They are in the low angle flake to the far right of the slab under the orange face. Stay away from that and you'll be fine. make sure you look around really good first though. They do wander right along the main cliff sometimes.
