Hand Jammies?
Just wait til the gheko gloves and shoes come out. It's only a matter of time.
"Yes! Now you can free climb glass buildings! And now catch a good rest at floor 13 with the gheko codpiece."

I've been thinking about getting a pair of hand jammies. I wonder if anyone stocks them in Lex, I doubt it. I hate tape but my hands get sooo chewed up. I climb too slowly, trying to find the perfect hand jam.
I got them really messed up a a few weeks ago. I found that keeping both neosporin and band aids on all the time really speeded the healing process- kinda of a no brainer- and tylenol helped with some mild swelling and pain. The scars may even fade by the wedding!

Some cracks are smooth on the inside. Some are like cheese graters. I'm thinking these things might be nice for the cheese graters.
But what if someone came up with tape with stealth rubber on the back? Thin as medical tape but with a super sticky backing? Do like all traddies and keep wearing the glove until it just doesn't work any more. Then tape up a new one...
But how is that with the "ethics" of free climbing? There are still those who consider chalk to be cheating. Should we start claiming our "clothing aids" we use on each climb? "I climbed Butthole Manhandler 5.11c using stealth rubber shoes, chalk from a pool room, and a gecko codpiece." If the gecko material becomes affordable (I think the quote I heard last fall was $1000 per cm2) the potential for climbing overhung blank faces becomes a reality. As long as you have the power to maintain equalizing forces and peel one hold at a time... The whole Spiderman thing comes to fullest fruition short of being able to shoot webbing out of your wrists. Will climbing move into a base jumping realm with these innovations? Will people be scambling up the Golden Gate Bridge or the Sears Tower just as base jumpers try to jump off them? Will super rapid alpine style ascents of the giant Himalayan faces become a records race for FA's ten feet apart from one another?
Climbing is becoming extremely popular. I don't watch television but I have seen on televisions in other people's homes advertisements featuring climbing. That has GOT to mean that climbing is regularly featured in commercials these days. Which means lots of people are going to start doing it. I don't know how to feel about that. How do we get them to switch to parachuting?
