If you think riding a bike (or running) is less like a coffin or will avoid road rage, you've never commuted via bike on a regular basis.

Around here even walking is dangerous. I've almost been hit twice this year crossing the street in the crosswalk with a walk signal.
Screw you guys. I'm going bowling.

Please excuse my Ranting,

I really can't bitch to much about H2's even if they are the ultimate poser mobile. Everything I have read about them says they suck off road, they perform badly on the road, are not that safe, for it size doesn't have a lot of cargo passenger volume, the towing capacity is lower then other vehicles, and they suck up two parking spots at the least. They are purchased purely for a false image. I can't bitch to much about poor mileage since I own an 4x4 F150 that's larger then I need.

Nonsense like that makes me want to carry a billiard ball around with me. Although one good point a friend of mine mentioned, when someone in a car sees you on foot or on a bike, they can size you up much better than you can them.

I commuted 8 miles a day (both ways) on bicycle in New Orleans for over 8 years and I did get hit once. I learned to whistle REALLY LOUD whenever a driver at an intersection wasn't looking at me and just assume that if I didn't get their attention I should go behind them. I also found that a bike lock can really fuck up the hood of a car when they pull out anyway. Rush hour traffic could never keep up with me so I left a few cursing drivers behind me. Oddly I never saw any of these cars again though I only rode four or five different routes and usually just sailed down St. Charles.

Louisville was rated as one of the least bicycle and pedestrian friendly cities in the country. Man, this city sucks on so many levels.

Commuting on a bike is a skill. I've had really close calls in Lex on 3 different occasions and I've had people thorw crap at me often, including an Ale8 bottle. It's exciting in this town, you really do have to get your game face on every morning.

I've been hit by a grapefruit when biking in Florida. Not as bad as a beer bottle, but it seemed odd at the time. Physically pushed off the road twice by campus buses at Ohio State. Pushed of the road by a guy in the next lane who changed his mind AS WE WERE BOTH STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND WHILE HE WAS LOOKING DIRECTLY AT ME. So much for loud whistling. Launched 50 ft. by a Buick with an unconscious driver at the wheel, completely destroying a Cannondale, my most valuable (dollar amount) possession at the time. Spent the night rebuilding the pink Schwinn of a girl on my floor to race the next day.

I have been thinking about cycling to work, but I'm scare of the drivers around here.

Drivers throwing crap out of their car is bull shit. I've had a lot of close calls jogging from inconsiderate all holes.

I have to sell this house that I bought thinking there was going to be a light rail system in front of it and the demolition of the housing projects behind it. Things changed and the property is worth only slightly more than it was when I bought it which is not enough to pay for the money I've sunk into it. So I'm kind of stuck.
