the weather in font is always a crapshoot. they get a lot of rain every month. that said there are some guidelines you can follow.

if possible avoid the summer. thre is a fair about of rain and the temps are the highest.

the best rain/temp month is march. there is the least rainfall and the temps are still cool enough to climb hard.

as for december. the locals say you need to come in dec through feb to climb really hard. there is alot of rain then, less than summer more than spring and fall. however the temps are consistently cool. however the highs are around 45 degrees. so if you want to stick to sandstone slopers it is good, if you want to have a leisurely day climbing in the forest, not so good.

as far as rain goes, it has rained most of the times i have went and it hasn't been a major problem. there are areas that dry really really quickly. you can climb later in the day that it rains. there is one small hard area that stays dry in the rain but you really can't climb outside in the rain there. however i have heard rumors of people's entire trips being consumed by rain.(then go to switzerland)

i have been there late spring and late fall. both times seemed good to me. though by the end of may it was too hot to climb hard.

here is a site with average weather info. it is for paris not font but since font is 45 minutes from paris it should be roughly equivalent. it has a graph that makes it easy to see why march is best.

thanks everyone. Just wondering if anyone knows which area has Hale Bop. I'm super tall and a pretty good dynamic climber. Just wanted to be sure to throw down on that while I'm there.

hale bop is next to franchard cuisiniere. it is off circuit on top of a ridge. it is very near duel so you have an 8A slab and an 8A dyno within 2 mintues of each other. if you find duel you need to walk up the hill.

If you are looking for problems that hard, Karma is also at Franchard Cuisiniere. Though it is in the area proper.

To find Hale Bop . cut up to the top of the ridge across from where Karma and the circuits are. so if you are on the road from the parking lot and karma is on your left, you would go up to the ridge on your right. might be useful to have a guidebook but locals can probably point it out.

That thing is sick, of course i am a short climber, but even then it is awesome to try to generate power off of the crimps and feet.

Matt was really psyched on it and it is a beautiful line.

Yeah it went, thanks for the info everyone. Not 8a if you're tall like me.
