Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone from this board has been to Yosemite by them self. I should be out there in late summer and without a climbing partner. I am also extremely interested in climbing some big wall. I have the basics down but am completely consumed with wanting to learn more!
I know there are people going up El Cap all the time but I was wondering how hard it would be to hook up with some of them. What would I look for in the people that are going up to make sure I am not going to die. And where would I look for knowledgeable people to climb with.
If you have any info them please feel free to e-mail me or post something. It would make my life to go up on the big wall.
Yosemite here I come!!
I took a trip out to Yosemite by myself and found all kinds of cool people to climb with on a great variety of routes... One day I got lucky and found some strong partners. We climbed all over the Cookie Cliff, toproped "Short Circuit Crack", climbed "Nutcracker", bouldered in Camp IV. etc. etc.

Late summer is maybe the best time. Especially after school starts. Lots of great climbers, beautiful weather. Like TradMike said, look for worn gear. Take the weather on big walls very seriously. Have absolutely reliable raingear with you on a wall, always, no exceptions. Everyone that climbs walls nearly dies at some point when the weather unexpectedly changes. Remember to keep tieing in short when jumaring, make damn sure you know how to safely follow pitches like the King Swing, and be careful on sandy, gravelly slabs. The ground is a loooong way down.
