when to replace quick draws?

Post by kman154 »

i am sure this question has been asked before but i could not find a reference when i did a search.

when should i replace quick draws.

i know of the obvious times such as one is dropped and the webbing is starting to frey and lots of ware

do they just go bad over time (which i would not think so)?

is it a good idea to replace the webbing and not the beaner if the beaner does not look worn after a good inspection.

thanks

if biners get warn more than 1/3 of the way thru i'd toss 'em because they're both losing strength and they can start eating shealths.

Um, this is actually a timely thread for me....

I need some *project* draws that I can leave on routes for a couple weeks without being too worried about some low life stealing them. So, any of you that have older draws that you are no longer comfortable leading on, let me know. I promise to extend their use for several more years.

lordjim_2001, Why should I buy draws when people retire perfectly good gear well before it's time?

Wes , Always taking one for the team. You are performing a much needed service and should be rewarded. I think everyone should by you a beer along with giving you their gear. Beer and gear can be dropped off at my place.
