Ice Fest

Post by gulliver »

Anyone heading to Munising next month? If you're familiar with the area, what are some of the spots away from the crowds? Last year the ice seemed a little funky , but maybe this year will be better(it's not in yet). We plan on dropping by the demos, but would really like some info on other areas on the mainland.Any help would be great

Hey Gulliver, if you could, post some of the highlights from this year's fest. I'd be cool to hear if anyone found "Split-Lip".

I leave in the morning- "Split-Lip" huh? I'm sure I'll see a few! Any hints on location? The highlight so far is FREE BEER this year, but I think I'd rather be headed Durango way. Have you been out on the island?

that sucks man- great bunch of folks up there- you'd have had a good time for sure with the free beer addition.

Split Lip is this mythical climb that very rarely forms up on the Strawberry Daze formation- it's like a 170' icicle about 3-6' wide. Freakin' cool as hell, but you can only see it from the lake shore below. Every year, there's this huge debate as to whether it even exists 'cause everyone always skiis in on the top of the cliff where they can't possibly find it.

I feel for you Gulliver... my life gets in the way of my fun far more often than I'd like. Just start planning the next adventure and you'll feel better.
