I agree, hiking is not as cool as climbing. but I'm willing to hike a mile for good climbing, assuming I got up early in the morning.

Some of the best climbing that I have ever done had some of the longest approaches... especially out west! We really are spoiled here at the Red. I can't think of very many climbing areas at the Red that have an approach more than a couple of miles.

Which is why gym climbing is a great option for you, Piggie! It hardly takes that long to walk from your car into the gym, and all the ropes are already hung, so you can toprope to your heart's content!
