Great pictures, Wes. Besides your talent with the camera, you sure can climb, too. Congratulations on sending "Mercy" yesterday.
Age is just how old you are...
Re: Hercules Rules
congrats wes!! and sorry.. but i have to do this.
how'd your day go, Snake?
seriously, though, congrats!Wes wrote:OK, so the next person that says they are "close" to sending some steep, pumpy-with-a-high-crux rrg route because they can do it with one hang, is going to get my foot upside of thier ass. Seriously.
And NO I am NOT BITTER.
really...

and great loves will one day have to part -smashing pumpkins
Snake, you rule for sure. Thanks to you and Sunshine for taking me in when I couldn't even make the third bolt on wadcutter on TR with much hanging and whining.
Paul, that is just one less route on my one-fall list now, still several more to go. And I have no doubt that by the time I tick the ones there now, I will have added more...
And speaking of one-fall efforts, watching Jen S. do table with one fall yesterday was bad-assed!
Oh, and great weather and even better people makes for a great day regardless of how the climbing goes.

Great send! I have been working Mercy lately. I was wondering if you or anyone else has found any interesting rest positions on the route i.e. stems, hand jams, heel hooks, knee bars?
Thanks
Thanks

Well, since you asked.....heavyc wrote:Great send! I have been working Mercy lately. I was wondering if you or anyone else has found any interesting rest positions on the route i.e. stems, hand jams, heel hooks, knee bars?

There is a killer hand jam rest at the last bolt. Clip and move right a few feet. There is a really big right hand side pull. Get that then cross your left hand over to the right side of the pocket. You might have to work out the feet and body position, but I get pretty much a full recovery there, and that make the last little bit much easier.
Also, there is a huge heel hook/leg wrap at the very top. Just climb to the big break right of the anchors, go up a little higher to a jug, and throw your right leg into the ledge.
Other then that, there are OK rests and sending was all about a nice slow pace for me.

Mercy beta
Thanks for the beta. I figured there was something that could be worked in that area, but since my high point is at the seventh bolt I haven't yet bothered with working a rest above the eighth. I was hoping maybe there was some sort of stem between the seventh and eighth bolts that was possible.
