If the novacaine is good you won't feel a thing. You might want to take a tape player and headphones to drown out the racket.

Back in my college days, I had to make the choice of root canal or extraction. My budget told me I wouldn't miss a rear molar. A few shots in the gum and he was going at me with the "pliers" Didn't feel a thing but he literaly had to place his knee on my chest . My head was torqueing back and forth and the crunching noises were sickening! He had references

Lynne, I was a dental/oral surgery assistant for 20 years. You should be able to tolerate a local for a molar. There is a lot of pressure and crunching, but as long as there is no infection, you should not feel pain. In the event that the root is curved, the dentist can do a simple gengival/bone cut and get the tooth out with minimal discomfort. He/she may do that as a prevention to possibly breaking off the crown during the extraction. I have had three molars extracted this way, and it is fairly quick and simple. One thing I will caution you NOT to do is leave the gauze in too long. This can result in a dry socket. Not fun! When the bleeding has stopped, throw the gauze away. Don't drink from a straw for a day or so after the procedure. Wrapping a tea bag in gauze and placing it over the wound is a good way to control bleeding, but your dentist will instruct you on all of that. Try not to worry. Worrying about it is probably worse than the event itself. I hope all goes well. Om. di

Jeebus, all this talk of crunching sounds and knees on chests... I think I'm going to tell him to knock my ass OUT!

hey lynne, get some painkillers prescribed to you and perhaps you could "accidentally" put them in a box addressed to me. seriously though, getting teeth pulled sucks. don't let anyone on here fool you. i've been told i need my wisdom teeth pulled for the past 6 years, but i'm too traumatized from my last tooth pulling expedition to let them do it. i would worry as much as possible and expect the worst possible scenario you can think of.

speaking of creamed corn though, i was in a car with a guy on the way to hueco. he had a cb in there, and he had a conversation with a trucker about hauling creamed corn.

Well I had it done this morning and it was awful. Gah! I heard the bone breaking and he was twisting my head back and forth and he even had to break out a saw. What a freak show! I'm so glad it's over and now I'm in PAIN. This week is really sucking.

It can only get better from here.

RIGHT????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
