so take 11:11, add the two numbers together, multiply by 2, then round to the nearest base ten number. That was my wipper on Sunday. If the math is too complicated for you, I took about a 40 footer, my largest fall yet on a piece of gear, which held thankfully enough.
Everything was going well, I was nearing the top, so I plugged in a .75 camalot right about where the crack ends and the face climbing begins. I grabbed the juggy sidepull, reached out left to the other jug, climbed up to the juggy shelf hoping to find a slot for a cam, but no. No worries I'm on jugs. So I continue out the iron oxide jugs to the top. I can see the tree with the slings, I can damn near touch them. All I need to do is get my foot over the ledge and sit down. Leaning to the right I find only slopers, so I switch hands on the jug and go up left. I grab and try to pull but come up with dirt, pine needles and leaves, and take the big ride. For anyone familiar with the climb I fell from the ledge with the tree anchor to eye level with the fat part of the crack that takes the 3.5 camalot most of the way down. Scared my belayer pretty well. He had just learned how to lead belay and I pulled him almost up to my first piece.
I was too exhausted to try and do it again, so whoever goes up there next, enjoy a free #11 BD nut. Oh and it was a great climb
11:11 gave me a ride
Not to promote anything, but just for old times sake, check out 11:11, I think I have enough bandwidth.
