Perhaps it should post "you know you are an old trad climber when....." No offense intended, I say this with respect.
I was fortunate enough to have learned climbing trad from a few old (or should I say very experienced) traddies back in the late 80's. I would like to think I carry with me much of the traditional values I was taught.
If your gear costs more than your car, you're a Traddie! If what you're climbing requires you wear Depends, it's Trad! If not, it's Sport! If it takes 2 balls, it's Trad! Unless your name is Betty! Trad is the real deal. Sport is somewhere betweenTrad and Bouldering. Bouldering is somewhere between Sport and sitting in church! Sport - achieving the highest grade the easiest way possible free.(physical limits)Trad - consentration on the technical aspect of route finding, gear placements and self reliance.(mental limits).
Me too! Going for a bourbon and Ale-8 right now (unless the woman of the house stops me) oh goodie, she is leaving to do the laundry... now is my chance!
