LLR, I work in LEx M_F until 4pm and live in Stanton, so i could meet you in Lex on a weekday or in Slade/Stanton on a weekend. Or if you know someone that would meet me and shuttle them to you that would work too.
what part of town do you work in?
my dad is retired now...with almost nothing to do(yeah right)
we live off Winchester Rd...almost in Clark County so it's close to the Gorge...which way do you go to the Red?

I work at UPS on Mercer road (NE end of town) in the morning and at ecampus on Palumbo (SE end of town).

As far as getting to the Red I drive one mile to the Mountain Pakrway and then drive up to the next exit and I'm there.

Matt Tackett's graciously allowed me to drop books off at his new place (which used to be my old place) and you can pick them up on the weekend if you're going to be in RRG.

LLR,
I work at ecampus now though.

Either way is fine with me. Let me know what works best and i'll make arrangements. I'm gonna drop the other books off tomorrow afternoon after work at Matt's. So if you want me to do that let me know, or otherwise we can arrange to meet or something.

I just had a bit of a thought. If anyone else has any piles of old books that they are looking to get rid of, check around for a National Gaurd base or military recruiter nearby. Some of these guy and gals overseas are nuts for stuff to read and honestly are quite bored from time to time. I mailed some and they weren't too cheap, but I'm thinking a base or recruiter may be more than willing to ship them for you.

mm did you ship them book rate?

this is something I've always wondered...why don't the military take stuff with them...and what happens when they're done with books where do they go...and all the little trinkets people send them...where do they keep them...especially if they're out on the field all the time...I just had a green apple martini...my brain is fuzzy

One box went book and the other by air. All total I spent about $50 on shipping about 70 paperbacks. As for taking stuff with them, there just isn't room when they go over or come back. It has to be shipped separately since they have a very fixed amount of space. Of all the books I sent I don't think any came home. They get passed around and traded all over the place. I consider it my contribution to their morale. After all, it's not that hard to keep a book or two in a thigh pocked of your BDU's. (I can easily fit the Bronough guide in mine.)

We have a local group collecting for the area service personnel. They assemble gift baskets, including reading material, and ship them to the solidiers with the assistance of the armed forces. I feel certain there are groups in your areas as well.

That was a nice thing you did there, Marathon! *sigh*
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.
