I try and help keep my bolters on the wall.... This is my view of Jared through a quickdraw while he was bolting a steep route. Good thing he has a fine arse!
Emancipate yourself from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our mind. ~Bob Marley
sorry toady, it was meant to be today. I can only offend and hold off so many people at one time...lol..but do we need to discuss your rap bolting for the masses?
confessional now open.
Maybe all you nonbolters should come see how it's done! Wes, they do use gri-gris and ascenders but are still on belay to pull them in. Then they can hook and/or place gear in order to be able to drill on the really overhanging stuff. We even place belay bolts at the bottom of some of the routes to help in the effort!
I have seen where people who bolt alone put a bolt at the bottom of a route-to-be-drilled, then run a fixed static line to the anchors and use that to hold them in as well. I have just drilled one short, kinda overhanging route, and it was hella hard work. I couldn't get a hook in for one bolt, and just had to pull myself in with one hand and drill with the other. In summer time heat and dirt. Work for sure.
Rebolting is much easier, since you all ready have a bolt there to clip yourself into while drilling.
