I have found that I now avoid using the cheap quickdraws that I bought when I first started climbing. I bought cheap ones to save some money, but ended up paying more in the long run because I refuse to use them and have replaced them with draws that I like.

I really like the petzl spirits and BD positrons. I do like wire gates on the clipping side but that isn't neccessary for me.
Petzl Express dogbones with BD positrons and BD hotwires. 17.25-18.25/draw so kinda pricy.
Thats sounds like a great set up to me. I don't like floppy dogbones, so petzl dogbones are great. I really like keyless carabiners, and some biners don't clip well, and some my fingers seem to get stuck in, like the super cheap BD's.

Anyway, my point is don't cheap out. Get the ones you really like and if you don't know what you really like ask around.

what about made w/ slings & 2 biners? when you need a long draw you just pull it all the way out?

edit: posted the same time as andrew.

that is an excellent point andrew. i have a couple of the spirits & they are nice, but pricey.

Cool for tard climbing, but not as cool for sport.

Then it is good to have. I still use "sporty" draws when tard climbing, and just use the longer ones when I need to extend the placement.

ok...i'm sold on the dogbones & biners. but they don't have the petzl dogbones. i'm ordering from here b/c of the 20% discount so...

they have trango's...which look pretty shitty to me or the
BD spectra's which look ok.

if the spectra's are ok...they have 12, 15 and 20 cm. what sizes should i buy w/ a limit of 10?

Thanks everyone...this is so helpful to me!

Get mostly 15cm and a few 20cm. Is it the thick BD spectra, because for sport climbing I really suggest Dogbones that are stiff. Trango superfly wiregates are awesome for the rope end.

They do have the Petzl Dogbones.

edit: I'd say length wise get either 11 or 17cm. Since you are looking toward more tard climbing then more 17's than 11's may do you better in the long run.
Screw you guys. I'm going bowling.

Where the hell did you find that? I did a search & went through each damn page of slings & draws. Only 1 Petzl product listed in there. Oh well. Thanks for finding them for me.

I'm training to be a librarian, I get paid to find stuff :)

I did a search on the main page. Man. was Petzl, keyword was express (the name of the sling).
