i see the weather is supposed to be forty and partly cloudy. it's military or bust mostly because i have a lot of driving to do this week and it's a decently short approach with plenty of climbs.. what do you think and why?

Not as sunny and warm? As long as there is some sun out, you should be fine. The approch can be cold and icy, but once you turn the corner where sunshine and those routes are, it really warms up if there is some sun. I was kinda thinking about there as well, good place for a training day.

hey, I got a question for you Wes..what exactly is a training day? I hear this a ton, and although I have been climbing 14 years, I still don't know what that means. I say it occasionally myself, and then I laugh and say to myself..."training for what?"

The vibe I get from users here is that climbing goals are not that worthy, so why push or "train"... I train in the gym, because it motivates me to spend endless hours going nowhere. but training on real rock? is that where we hang a top rope, and work the moves on a project? is it where we find us a gumby to belay while we do laps on Tissue Tiger? to me, at least in the corporate sense, training is where we learn new skills to take our job to a higher level. but if people on here aren't pushing themselves, then I am assuming they never have training days. to them , they would be maintenance days or "dreaming but never realizing" days...

to train, don't we need the ultimate goal of attaining higher levels? if not, then it must be called something else.

Training days for me are days when I am not really focused on sending anything. Just out to do as many hard pitches as I can. Easy days are just out doing whatever, usually several easier routes. And *project* days are for trying to send or onsite. Many times, project days turn into training days because I send early, or don't send and end up trying a harder route seveal times.

Horst says something like most of you time at the cliff should be *training*, with a smaller percent trying to send or onsite. I just sorta go with whatever the team is up for, then set my goals based on that. And don't get confused - I still have much fun, regardless of what kind of day I have, even if it doesn't turn out to be what I had hoped.

I personally like the sourdough in my freezer. In fact I think I'll take that out tonight and work on it this weekend. Mmmmmmmmmm homemade sourdough.
Screw you guys. I'm going bowling.
