Alan,
Sorry, let me restate in a way that is more accurate;
When I get my hands scraped up, it is because I
1) did not place MY hands carefully (always important!)
or
2) I forgot to tape MY hands when it was needed.
I assume it applies to other to.
Don't worry, I'm not a real climber either.

Those are just scrapes except for one gouge I didn't expect. Unless I was really tearing my hands up I wouldn't worry about it. The shit that happens to them while I'm working is far worse. For instance that wound on my left middle finger still requires a bandage and neosporin while all the wounds from the Red are just little scabs. Today I fell on a metal roof and cut the base of the left ring finger on the palm right in the crease there right where the finger meets the hand. That is WAY worse than any damage I've ever gotten to my hands climbing. My point of the picture is I had a great time getting scratched and bruised climbing in the Red River Gorge! Ha! That cheered me up even now as I sit here with a new, burning cut and my ears still cold from being out in this dreary, cold crap all morning. What a miserable day. I almost didn't enjoy walking my dog just now.
