If you're thinking of growing bamboo or cane, especially in your yard, make sure you check it out completely and talk to someone who knows a lot about it. I've helped do fieldwork on a river cane project in western Ky. Most of it grows naturally, however, you have to beware that it can spread very rapidly and cannot be controlled very well when it's in the right environment. So research it thoroughly and plant it in some kind of barrier in your yard. There are many species out there that you can buy and plant. The baby shoots are sooo cute!

I would be really interested in seeing this bamboo shirt, it sounds like it would be neat.

The supplier also supplies a 2' tall polyethalene barrier to put around your plantings. It can be very evasive, not like cudzu, but can be controlled with proper care. He also keeps the patches contained by mowing around it with a lawn mower.

Now that I know how to attach pictures here (thx diggum) I will post a picture of the shirt.

I have heard of people planting bambo near their property line, so as to screw over the people next door. Esp. if you are going to be moving soon, or are just renting. Once it gets going, it spreads like crazy.

Some varieties areworse than Cudzo. Be careful what you turn loose.

Know that I can't grow anything. I got some bamboo from this guy and I killed it.

I'm just enjoying the tee shirts. He's the one growing the bamboo.
