Hi,
New guy here, Al. I've been lurking for a few months and reading some of the posts about gear. It seems that everyone, or nearly everyone suggests Aliens. Well I don't have any. Here is a list of my gear:
Metolius Power Cams 0, 1, 2.
Clog cams .5, 1.5, 2.5.
Forged friends, old style, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5.
Full set of hexes, double on the 7.
Two set of nuts. Nut tool
Two pink, one red tricam, and I can borrow my buddies' pink and red ones too.
8 quick draws.
10, 24" tied runners. 9/16" Supertape.
3 double length tied runners 9/16" Supertape.
7mm Perlon cordelette.
Prusiks and accessory cord.
I've never climbed trad yet. I've read John Longs' Advanced Rockclimbing and I'm getting his book on anchors soon. I also will be trained by a guide before doing any leading. I plan on toproping and placing gear at first then maybe do some easy trad routes lead climbing. Right now I'm coming off of a year hiatus from gym climbing. I'm doing 5.7's-5.8's and hope to be doing 5.10's by spring.
So tell me, what do you think of my rack? Will it work for most of the easier trad routes found in the Red?
Thanks,
Al

I dont know clog sizes,I assume they fill in between the metolious and friends?Sounds like its plenty to get up most routes. You can use the tricams and hexes
when you need multiples of the same size. Theres about 3 good 5.6s several 7's
and plenty really good 8's to keep you busy. When you get to the 9's you can take your pick of 2 and 3 star routes. The 8's seem to teach you the most.

Wicked Tribe is a guide I think. www.redriveroutdoors.com If you asked nicely I'm sure just about any tradhead here would show you the ropes.
I've had just about enough of this shit.
