What is the best website for looking up routes at places in other states?
Rockclimbing.com doesnt seem to be working right now.

I wanted to know what is at Arches Ntl. Park. Utah You been there Mayor.Did you do any climbing?

It's working today.Sounds like the rock is soft and the heat is terrible.On the bright side theres so much to climb in utah that it's half undeveloped.What is the best guide for the state?

I don't think that there's really a great guidebook for the whole state since there is so much rock there. There is however a very good comprehensive bouldering book for Utah. Aside from that, I'd go with the Dersert Rock !-IV series by Eric Bjornstadby (Falcon Press), which mainly concentrates in the SouthEastern part of the State. There's a great Indian Creek Guide that just came out in April of 04 from Sharp end books http://www.sharpendbooks.com/prod.php?t=1&q=UT It all depends on where you want to climb really. And yes, most of the rock is soft windgate Sandstone, but the towers are killer, as are the views on top of them

Dude, Utah is my favorite climbing place! There are so many guidebooks to the various areas that it is ridiculous. I have 5 of them and there are many more that I don't have. We climbed at Zion, Arches, the Canyonlands, Indian Creek, Wall Street, and a few other areas. You won't be disappointed. It is amazing! There are at least 3 types of sandstone there. Navaho, Entrada, and Wingate. Hell, there might be a few more too! I could recommend all kinds of classic climbs and desert towers!

If you want just a general overview for Utah the Falcon guide Rock Climbing Utah is OK. Enough to get you interested if not hooked on desert climbing. If you enjoy climbing sandstone Utahs the place.

I've been known to spend a few weeks there in the spring climbing at Indian Creek, desert towers, and the general area. You can kinda get lost in desert........in a good way that is.

If you are going to do any climbing at the creek, I'd check out getting the new full color guide by David Bloom Indian Creek a climbing guide. Sweet guide! All the Desert Rock guides a great, still leave a good bit of adventure.

Thanks for the tips.I want to take the family to see the Grand canyon and Arches,of course I want to get some climbing in.I love the desert.Already seen alot of Texas and New mexico.The high desert is awesome.I like how bright the stars and moon are and how blue the sky is.It's just majical.I guess spring break would be a good time in Utah weatherwise?
