Toad, just to be technical, I really don't think it is much of an "option"...but that reminded me of this:
I was reading somewhere though about a birth control product that brought down menstration to only 4 a year. Some doctors thought this was actually healthier for woman since losing that much blood really can be damaging. (Ask anyone who is iron deficient, etc.) Those same doctors also believe that 4 a year is actually the more natural and prime number to have citing research on menstrual cycles in some African cultures.

I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Hormonal IUD's will reduce your cycles...and in some cases get rid of them altogether.
I had heard that the blood loss that women go through is the primary reason that women live longer than men. And that if men give blood...they prolong their lifespan. Something about cleaning out built-up iron reduces heart disease...
I can't remember exactly & can't find the article, but it was interesting. I'll keep looking.

Dated a girl a lifetime ago who lost her cycle with Depo Provera.diggum wrote:Hormonal IUD's will reduce your cycles...and in some cases get rid of them altogether.
I've known (Heh, in the bibilical sense) 2 women who occasionally lost their cycles. These were two very fit women (cycling, swimming, ultimate frisbee) but losing their cycles didn't seem to relate to their level of fitness. Like everything else about women it was unpredictable, at least to me.

It's like predicting the rain based on how many cows are standing or sitting in a field, not quite an exact science.
Oh...yes...that's what this thread WAS originally about. I had forgotten!
