It was cold and snowy, so Roxy and I hiking for lunch. We heard the dog barking, and it seemed to be barking in a distressed sound, so we decided to investigate. We hiked along the bank of the Muscatatuck River and saw the dog clinging to a clump of logs almost to the center of the stream. How he got there I have no idea. At that point Roxy and I realized he had to be rescued.
I searched for a shallow spot in the river, no sucess. Looking at the dogs face, I saw the look of desperation on my soon to be new friend. I new then I was soon to be cold and wet as I entered the river to rescue the dog.
The river was colder than I thought. It seemed like an eternity and I considered how I would react if I fell into a deep hole.
But finally I reached the near frozen dog, he didn't react like I expected, instead he simply layed still as I put my arms around him and told him "it wasOk now".. thinking to myself, I hope this is going tobe ok .. before I really could believe that, I needed to return to the shore.. and try to get the three of us to the cabin and try to warm our selfs.
That night River ate a small amount, wrapped in blankets as Roxy and I comforted him.
Since that day River has turned out to be a healthy and beautiful dog full of excitement and energy. Iguess it was my Xmas present to River and inturn I was his. End of Story....

Pretty awesome story. If you can't find anyone, I recommend talking to Circle Tail, they're a great no-kill shelter, we got our newest dog from them.

Circle tail is where we got Goldie: http://www.redriverclimbing.com/album_p ... pic_id=826
Sometimes her tail even wags in a circle!
