Hey Chester if you check out the on-line guide book you can probably find specific crags and climbs where Ray might need photos. Of course hopefully you are there right now - what a gorgeous day!

I'd like to get down to the Red to do some hiking in the snow sometime. Let me know if you ever want any walking company. I'm laid up from climbing but it sure would feel good to just be at the Red.

Lynne, I'll hike with you sometime! Let me know! I love to hike!
Pick me! Pick me! I'm going to order some snow boots, and a down parka, and some gloves, and a new purse and.................
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

Seriously, though, watch out for falling ice if you're anywhere near the rock. Some winters there's a lot of ice and on a nice sunny afternoon ......

there is constant falling ice while people are ice climbing. it took me a while to get used to it. and not just shards but big big blocks. thud thud thud. there is a good reason why every ice climber i saw was wearing a helmet.

Merrick did you see me pre or post run in with big chunk o'ice
anyways i was climbing in the deep part of the gorge at the ice park in Ouray which is probably close to 40 meters. About 3/4 of the way up the ice looked super fat, white (bad), and was positive (good/easy) i figured i could just cruise through this ice with little problem. Not to mention i hand some adrenaline going from the steep thin blue ice, and curtain i had cruised up. About halfway through this white ice i managed to knock of a block about the size of your average television, it crashed right into my helmet/face/arm/chest/crotch(yeah that hurt)/leg and then exploded. At first it felt like someone had just hit me pretty hard but when i pulled up on top i was greeted with some weird looks and the comment "what happened to you?" That's when i touched my face with my hand to wipe off what i thought was sweat from my adventure and realized my face was bleeding from my check to my chin. It looked pretty bad until i cleaned all the blood off and only uncovered some scracthes and a nice little splitt in my chin. So yeah watch out for ice and don't touch my chin, it's still kinda sore.

I love hearing about falling ice. Got hit the face doing my first ice fa and got cracked in the face with a dinner plate piece of ice and broke my nose. Looked like i had been in a car wreck except the blood froze in this big hard knot on my nose. named the route Sore Nose. way back in 83.
