Faster internet thingy
Faster internet thingy
Lexington techy types, Jill and I are looking for faster internet access from home. I have little knowledge of things pc so any insight into the best options for faster than dial up home service is appreciated.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

Yeah, I've looked at 'em. I've got qx as dial up and never had any complaints with them. We have basic cable (hard to part with that service as the action on the hardwood heats up) and land line phone (pretty much to use dial up). The idea of wrapping all the bills up into one with cable intrests us, but I'm not sure I'm sold on the whole cable modem thing.

I agree. Insight cable internet is the way to go.Jeff wrote:Cable Rocks.
Unless your cable is always going out.
Never had it happen here in over two or three years.
I'm an experienced woman; I've been around... well, alright, I might not've been around, but I've been... nearby.

I've got DSL and it's ok. I had to threaten BellSouth to get them to lower my rate. What pisses me off is I don't watch television and I don't use my land phone line so with either cable or DSL I'm having to pay for a service I have no use for. When are we going to be able to get an optical line straight into our brains?
