Anyone like Amon Tobin? You'd dig it, hashplant. Luke Vibert is another on those lines.

I've been ripping my massive cd collection (over 2000 and growing) to a hard drive and I'm over 60GB at this point. What I've been doing is pulling ALL of that music into Musicmatch and shuffling it then pulling a chunk of that into the burner until it's a full cd-r of mp3s (usually around 150 songs). I do a little editing to get rid of full length bootlegs (from the Orb, FSOL, Radiohead, and others) and to change song titles so the same artist doesn't get played back to back. At this point all my cd players will play mp3 cds so each of these discs gives a wild assortment of completely random songs. It's like listening to a progressive radio station (something we are sorely lacking here in KY). The songs will go from the Stones to Chemical Brothers to Coltrane to David Bowie to NIN to Emmy Lou Harris to Johnny Cash to Robyn Hitchcock... you get the idea.

I usually have one in my car that I'm done with so if you see me and are interested in having one of these, just ask. Or PM me and we'll trade. Spread the love.

Hell yeah, Jack Johnson kicks ass. We saw him in concert last year with Ben Harper.

His newer cd is even better. Try G-Love, a good friend of Jack's.

G-Love E?!? He's still making records?!? What a pussy. I met that dude in N.O. after his first record came out. Nice guy but about as musically original as Terrance Trent D'Arby (stinky little fucker that dude). I have loads of contempt for copycat wannabes. Why make virtual reproductions of hits from the 60's and 70's?!? It's been done! Marvin Gaye, Three Dog Night, Otis Redding, and Grand Funk Railroad already did it and they did it better. Don't forget Average White Band, Parliament, The Guess Who, BTO, Stevie Wonder... I dunno. I haven't heard anything from hit "R&B" artists that's been worth a shit in the last 20 years. You get some people on the fringe that make incredible shit but it never makes it to the radio. The music industry in America is so fucked up they should line all the record executives up against the wall and let Gene Simmons lick their asses until they bleed to death. Try tuning in Radio 1 on the 'net some Friday night and I think you'll see how TOTALLY FUCKING WORTHLESS American pop radio is. It's all bought and sold and has nothing to do with what anyone likes. The American music business is a pile of shit and, according to basic rules of physics, the biggest, emptiest clumps of shit sit on top while the butter sinks to the bottom. Bleh.

Oo oo! I bet you guys think Dave Matthew's Band is some kind of cutting edge band of pure genius. Bleh. Go back to listening to Jimmy Buffet and quit kidding yourselves.

I sure wish I had "My Boo" as my cel phone ring.

I've heard Duran Duran has a new record out. I bet that's great.

Oh please! I make record one rap response and I'm a wannabe?!? That was a JOKE, get it? I don't DO that.

I still say Grand Master Flash's bowel movements are better rap than Eminem.

you're preaching to the choir alan, I bet you think you're the only person with a good taste in music and the only one who noticed most mainstream music sucks these days Newflash ---> DUH <-----

Is Jack Johnson mainsteam? I wouldn't know because I don't listen to the radio or watch TV, my buddy brought the JJ CD on a road trip and the dude has a great voice very soothing if nothing else and has some clever lyrics at times. The percussion for the most part sucks as does the bass but this act isn't really about a fully represented band or it would probably not be called Jack Johnson.

Anyway, the bottom line in music is:
If if sounds good to U who the hell cares what the critics say

PS pretty much everybody sucks compared to TOOL
