Who says Bouldering ain't fun in the Red?

Post by krazykid »

I had a blast on some good boulder problems up at Sky Bridge and I had to spout about it. All i've ever heard is there ain't no good bouldering in the Red, except The Pearl V5. There are several moderates V1, V2, and V3 problems at Sky Bridge that are alot of fun. I joined some boulders I bumped into up there and before I knew it they had talked me into trying some of the problems. It was one of the funnest days I had in the Red in a while. I don't care if everyone says there isn't great bouldering in the Red, there sure is heck some fun bouldering in the Red!

bouldering at the red

The bouldering at the red is superb, just as classy as the sport climbing...if you can find it. The best advice id give is to get beta on bouldering from actual boulderers at the red. There is a guide book for redriver bouldering but its crizzap, many of the directions/trail beta are waaay off and your more likely to find a hashplant field than any bouldering if you use this book. But there are lots of good quality problems, contrary to popular belief. Check out the boulders at military if you want a sample.
What if you just threw to...

There may be an occassional good problem here and there, but I wouldn't consider the Red to be a bouldering destination. You're much better off going to Boone, Horse Pens, or Rock Town.

we got hash? ...turn down the black sabbath, i'm trying to talk.... so i put the oil in my brownies and charge $6?

I have no clue about good bouldering here. But, I've had *many* requests for bouldering-type maps for the gorge. It's the canary in the coal mine. If someone can either sculpt a wall, invent a new sport, or chopper in custom rocks we could create a new forum category... and make a new map.

Kali Mist grows into tall, running, classically sativa plants with very few leaves. This strain produces dense clusters of full fluffy buds, producing much higher yields than you would expect.

bouldering is always fun and can be found at any crag all over the country. I've never bouldered at the Red mostly because I drive 4 hours each weekend to get on the 100's of 5 star Sport Climbs found at the Red.

I've had many days of fun bouldering here. But I live withing biking distance of most of the boulders. I would not tell you to drive all the way from Daytonnati or Even Lexington just to boulder. There are many other places to go. BUt if you are here or come here exclusively and like to boulder, then there is plenty her eto do and still to be done. And you have to leave the pansy in you at home. Bushwhacking is part of the deal. And you have to take your own crowds, so if you like the "scene" of most bouldering destinations then the Red definitely isn't for you.
