Post by climbhigh2005 »

I'll be going to ETSU next year (after wanting to go to UNC Asheville or App state)... and Im a little disappointed, so I thoguht i would try to make the best of it by finding some climbers in the area... and if there is some meet up with them... so are there any?!?!?!

Don't be disappointed about ETSU. Its a pretty good school and big enough to give you lots of things to do. Johnson City is a reasonably fun town and is convenient to Asheville and NC climbing/skiing/etc. Its also a reasonable drive to Knoxville (near climbing at Obed) and Chattanooga, which has plenty of climbing.

I went to ESTU my freshman year, was not a climber then, but JC has a great party and music scene, plus its very close to the Boone/NC area. Congrats on the move, it should be fun.

From Johnson city, I think you could be bouldering at g'mom, lost cove, or beacon hights within an hour. Plus Ship rock and linville just a bit further. And, I would bet there are little, local type areas even closer.
