The third route called Green Horn, houses a Wood Rat in the first heuco. Maybe you've noticed the sweet aroma of drying mushrooms and used TP in his den. This furry critter is on the KY endangered list I've been told by an experienced naturalist from this area. Avoiding this route will help ensure his survival over this winter.

he/she/it scared the bejesus out of my buddy when he got up in there it was pretty funny after he calmed down, that was quite a pile of shit in that hole! I'm curious how you tell a wood rat from well a generic rat.

There commonly know as pack rats. The Love Shak had many a wood rat.I had one chase me up the 2nd pitch of the Underling. The wood rat has hair on its tail. common rats have no hair, or at least that is what i heard. They are all over the red. Almost every big ledge has rat crap somwhere on it.
I pay that rat good money to keep assholes off of the route. If interlopers stick their heads up there over the ledge, he is under orders to pounce.
Lets leave him/her alone for the winter.

I think that's not a rat. It's actually Hugh dressed as a rat. He lives in that hole during the day and humps people's heads as they climb by. Then he tells everyone he's in med school and shit when he's just out humping heads all day.
