Well, it would appear there has been another lurch to the right. I'm trying to decide if I should start applying for work visas abroad or just move to the West coast or northeast. The way things are going all of us that disagree with the right wing agenda will end up in prison anyway. It just goes to show that logic and reason will always lose to money and emotion.

I was just reading about the drilling operations the BLM has been waiting to start. Any of you that visit Red Rocks or western Colorado had best be prepared to run into locked gates, wells, pipelines, and heavy truck traffic on new roads. Ah, who needs open wilderness anyway, huh?

There's some kick ass climbing in France, right?

If the right wing took out their "feelings" on the liberals Kerry would have have been summarily executed for treason in the early seventies. Today the Viet Nam veterans got their parade by denying this cool jerk what the vain and uninformed wished to give him.

Be very careful trying to speak for all Viet Nam veterans. Kerry is a hero to the many, many veterans who realized that the war was a sham based on lies and that they risked their lives and that their friends died for that sham and those lies.

For a lot of those vetrans, it is truly heart-wrenching to watch another sham war based on lies and to know that kids are being wounded and killed in this disaster. It's made all the worse by the fact that our clumsy, arrogant actions in Iraq are increasing the strength of al Qaeda around the world.

As for your comments about the American right-wing "taking out their feelings" on people, you're absolutely right. Much of the American right-wing would like to load us up on box cars and send us to the 'showers'. Let's be truthful: basically none of the American left has anything in common with Soviet Communists or Bolsheviks, but much of the American right has lots in common with German National Socialism: from the fear and hatred ("Homos are takin' over!"), to the propoganda (e.g. Ann Coulter) to the violence that Crankmas accurately depicts.

Kerry did not commit treason when he protested the war in VietNam. He served his country and then, after being honorably discharged with honors, he fought against that war using the political system of this country in a completely legal manner. Treason would be more along the lines of lying to take the country to war. There's this fascist mindset swelling in this nation that says it's ok to beat or imprison those that disagree with you and that if you're on the "other side" you're guilty until proven innocent. Or, to quote Bill O'Reilly, "SHUT UP!" The mob rules.

I agree that protesting the war is no more treasonist than baking a fucking potato is but sitting down with the enemy and signing documents that state your country and fellow servicemen are international criminals is close enough for me to know where the fuck he stands.

And, Kerry was not honorably discharged until Carter signed the amnesty to vets that had mostly relocated to Canada.

The French were our enemies? And none of our servicemen committed crimes in VietNam? Hmmmm. My Lai must've just been a little oopsy, huh?

Of course you're right, Kerry believes that all VietNam vets were murderers and criminals.

So you mean Kerry was AWOL throughout the 70's?!? That's bullshit.

This is how fascism works. Make ignorant, simple, blanket statements and then accuse anyone who disagrees with you of being unpatriotic. When the world is only black and white it's so much easier for you.

I'm wondering who can say if a person lied or made a mistake.
