I think what 5.12dickmeat meant was it is like a PCL tear, but it is anterior and not posterior.
To the point, your knee would feel wobbly. The ACL stabilizes the joint from sliding forward- The tibia sliding out forward from under the femur. You can be suspicious of the injury to the ACL (ant cruciate (crossed) ligament) by the mechanism of injury. Sudden loadings of the limb with the knee locked or very extend and the knee hyper extending backward will do it with regularity.

I partially tore my ACL this past Spring. It hurt like hell when I did it, and was sore for a couple weeks. From what I understand though, if you completely tear it, you will regain mobility faster than a parital, but it will be very unstable.
