J-rock. I think that if there are plenty of other route, the flying squirrels should be left alone. Can you just pull the hangers? I imagine that if there is increased human traffic to the area due to the other climbs, the squirrels may decide to move to another, more quiet, neighborhood.

This is a tough one b/c climbers then are really encroching on their habitat. Checking out further was keith boone was saying may be a pertinent option.

I got chased by one once. He had this diabolical look in his eye ... I thought he was going to kill me. Funny enough, I was on a college campus.

Fear not, only anchors were placed so there is no way for anyone to climb this route (unless they rappel from the top to set up a toprope).

FYI - Flying squirrels are currently on the endangered species list.
As a blanket statement this is not true. Certain species of flying squirrels are on the endangered species list. However, the southern flying squirrel, which is what you quite possibly encountered, is NOT listed as a federally endangered species. To be on the safe side you might want to consult a wildlife biologist.

Berea College has lots of squirrels. I never saw so many. Lesbian hippies play the guitar and bongos and the squirrels all dance around in the quad. They make love in the big oak trees (the hippies and the squirrels, though not together). It is heavenly. It makes me want to drink a latte.

EKU has some squirrels. They chew and smoke and run around the Ravine trying to remember where they're supposed to be going. They say "get-er-done" a lot too, which makes me want to take up squirrel hunting. Ah, Madison county and it's two colleges.

Its really disturbing when you hear a six year old say "Git-R-Dun!" in a deep growling voice. What is this world coming to?
