Pumpkins

Post by Steve »

Jill and I found this great place to get pumpkins. The Elam farm on Winchester Rd has a tractor trailer full of kick ass pumpkins for only $3! Really nice fat carving pumpkins you'd pay twice for at a Krogers. This place is on Winchester Rd (outbouncd) past Man-O-War on your right. They keep the trailer stocked and there is a little money box for you to pay. Outta towners, you can jump off I-64 at the Bluegrass Station exit and take Haley Pike over to Winchester Rd and then jump back on I-75 right down the road. I love pumpkins, can't wait to carve ours up and roast the seeds. Fall is the best time of the year.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

What's up with the choppers circling Seneca rocks every day?It would be really weird looking eye to eye with a chopper pilot on a climb, not to mention distracting.
It was cool running into the Mayor there!

I've seen plenty of Navy jets over and beside Seneca, did the helicopters appear to be military? Also I saw the pumpkin trailer, thanks for the beta.

The one in the morning looked like a hospital or tour chopper and had something hanging from the nose like a camera. The one in the evening was military. The first one was circling really close.

Does that mean we can't smoke any weed on the belay ledges anymore?

I'm not sure how this thread went from locally grown pumpkins to aircraft at Seneca?

There are military aricraft inthe area from time to time. There are old stories of F4s flying fast and low through the Germany Valley, but I figured that was years ago. Something about low level training missions or the like. At any rate I've seen whirly birds in the area from time to time, most recently over in the Canan Valley while sking at White Grass.

Military aircraft like to fly low for strategic reasons but I think they're cutting back on that sort of thing after an F4 took out a tramcar in Italy a few years back and killed a bunch of people.
